After dinner we went to the
penitentiary ; 5G9 are enrolled,
We saw the big dining room, they
have a cage that two guards with
their gun? are locked in during
meal time. We also saw the large
auditorium . It has seats and a
balcony th at holes many. They
have shows and church
there.
Several of the boys bought
rings
th at the men in the penitentiary
bad made.
From the penitentiary we went
to the asylum. Over 1000 are
enrolled. We wont through the
long halls and saw ma» y unfortu
nate people. We went into the
kitchen. They had two large tubs
of peeled potatoes prepared for
supper. T) ey had tbe largest
cook stove I ever saw. Over two
thousand are cooked for in this
large kitchen.
From the asylum most of us
went to the bliud school. One car
had had a slight accident and had
to go home before it got dark
hr cause the car’s lights were
broken. Wo saw the things the
blind children had made, hut did

because school wa? out. Among
the things th at they had made
were laskets, chair bottom0,

things. We also m v their books.
The man who was taking us

left tbe school building. She read
for us. She oid not lead as fast

W’e undertook to lead the world
to peace, and quit when the
nations were gropiog. We under
took to join the world court, but
quibbled when the nations were
joining. We undertook to im part
an international idealism, and
crucified our own ideal of guaran
teed am ity. We argued for a
confidence between countries, and
were the first to show suspicion.—
