IVHS Principal Don Barnes and
his predecessor Harold McAbee at
tended the Monday night meeting
of the county school board at
the courthouse annex in Grants
Pass to discuss high school bus-
inesa.
The following Items of business
relating to the high school were
discussed:
1. McAbee presented the board
an audit of the student associa
tion for 1951-52. Over $12.000 waa
handled in the various school org
anizations, the light fund, in ath
letics and by the student body.
2. The board decided to take
up each case individually in decid
ing whether a student left in the
Valley to finish school after his
parents have moved should pay
tuition, instead of establishing a
set policy.
3. Rather than pay $130 for a
new water meter to replace one
vandalized this past summer at the
high school, the board will first
seek to obtain a flat rate from
I
the city of Cave Junction.
4. Requests for extension of bus
routes on Caves Hwy., O’Brien-
Takilma Rd., and the Draper Val
ley Rd. were left to be considered
at a special board meeting Thurs
day night. August 28.
Former Principal McAbee ex =
pressed his regrets to the board
for leaving his job, emphasizing
that he had not sought the new
position but felt it unwise to turn
it down when it was offered to him.
Mrs. Axtell repeated past praise
of the board in the “good” work
done by McAbee in Cave Junction.
