â takers' Festival at Grants Pass Theatre, 8th The annual Homemaker’s Fest ival scheduled for May 8 at the Rivoli Theatre, Grants Pass, will be an achievement program for the 620 homemakers enrolled in extension units in Josephine Coun ty, explains home agent Miss Rix- pah Douglass. During the past year these wo- men have learned how to freeze cooked foods, glamorize old ward- robes and make etched aluminum trays. They also studied vegetable cookery, cleaning rugs and uphols tery, low cost meats and ways to add more storage space to their homes. A project in “Understand ing the Family’’ was also studied for the first time this year. These projects will In- exhibited by various extension units in eight store windows in Grants Pass the weekend preceding the Festival April 26, 27, and 28. which is Nat ional Home Demonstration week For women not familiar with home economics extension, Mis- Douglass explains that it is an ed ucational program for any woman in the county. It is carried on throughout Oregon by Oregon State college and the U. S. Depart ment of Agriculture, and staffed by specialists at Oregon State col lege and county agents. Groups of women known as ex tension units aie organized in the county to receive instructions and project materials.
