With thousands of applications placed in the mail near the end of the year, postal facilities already heavily burdened with holiday mail will be strained beyond their ca pacity. This will result in delays in getting the applications into the motor vehicle department in Sa lem. There, a heavy congestion will cause further delays in pro cessing the applications and re turning the registration -tickers, Farrell pointed out. "Oregon motor aehicle owi eps will need thoir 1944 registration certificates to obtain gasoline and t'rp ration coupons aftei the first <f the year,” Farrell sa.d. "Fori that reason, it is important tha' I every owner should l,«ve his regis tration completed after the first of the year. However, unless the ap plications are received early enough, it will be impossible to do this.” New stickers now are being mailed out and may be attached to vehicles anytime after December 15.
