No. 12 ('ave Junction, Oregon, Thursday, July 22, 1943 T Parachute Jumpers Take OH ACTION HIGHLIGHTS “THUNDER BIRDS” IN STIRRING SKY FILM Blasting the screen with a blaz ing roar of action and romance, “Thunder Birds,’’ Soldiers of the Air, a stirring action romance in living technicolor, opens Saturday and Sunday at the Cave City the ater, discharging a bomb-rack's worth of excitement and thrills. “Thunder Birds” is a timely mo tion picture reconnaissance over a famous training ground, where sprouting wings almost daily are hundreds of Democracy's avenging eagles from the far corners of the earth, daring lads with flying in their blood and romance in their hearts. That’s where Gene Tierney comes in. Altogether beguiling, the young star adorns her most en thralling role to date, as the ob ject of a life-like romantic duel between a flying instructor (Pres ton Foster) and one of his cadets (John Sutton). But flying is their business, as they are aware, and the two invest their roles with that two-fisted quality that distin guishes genuine action perform ances. Being, as it is, a red-blooded story of youth and romance to- day, the film is all the more en- thralling for much of the film was made at Arizona's famed Thunder bird and Falcon fields.
