A GRE \T CHRISTMAS THOUGHT In a recent issue of the Portland Oregonian, there appeared an editorial that runs right down our alley. In issues past, we have tried to tell our readers something about the strength of thought and its pos sibilities. In the following editorial the same theme is spoken of. It makes no difference what avenue you take to get to a destination. The same applies to the psychology of thought—It makes no difference whose theory is applied, as long as it is applied. 'Phis editorial speaks volumes, and if it was univer sally applied throughout the United States, it would have a marvelous effect upon the boys in the trenches. We of the Illinois Valley can do this to our boys in Uncle Sam’s fighting forces if we will. WE CAN DO IT. It has been proven. It is not a fake suggested by some half-wit. I am going to ask every soul who reads this editor ial, to stop and send a loving thought—prayer if you will—to the boys in the fighting forces—To the pris oners—Our boys, in every land. Stop your work at exactly 1 o’clock noon, and spend one minute with this prayer on Christmas day. 12 o’clcok—one minute—a loving prayer, for our boys—EVERYBODY! And don’t be ashamed to stop your work and pray. Here’s the Oregonian’s editorial: A quiz question on a radio program recently asked the follownig question: When should people stand in a theater other than the playing of the “Star Spangled Banner?’’ The answer was, when they left to go out. This brings us to our point. If a radio commenta tor says it is proper to stand in a theater when the Star Spangled Banner is being played, he should know what he is talking about. We have been instructed that it was not “cricket” to stand in a theater when the national anthem was being played. Somebody gave us the wrong tip, be cause the commentator intimates that it is proper to stand when the national anthem is being played in a theater, or any place else, except in one’s home when listening to a radio program. * * Evening service, 8:15 p. m.
