LETTERS
Hope Joe gets to fly as that is
the only thing if he can make it.
It is a tough grind to be a flyer
though as you have to be nearly
perfect in every way. A lot of
the boys sign up for pilots but
about half of them flunk out. Wish
he would enlist in the Army Air
Corps, maybe I could take care of
his guns for him or even fly with
him. If I get assigned to a bomb
er squadron I may get a chance to
fly yet as an auxiliary crew mem
ber. Will have to wait and see
where they send me before I know
whether I’ll be in a pursuit or
bomber squadron.
I heard from Gordon Wiliiams a
couple of weeks ago for the first
time since I left Seattle. Guess
where he is? They were going to
draft him so he joined the navy,
He signed up as a radio technician
and will be an officer when he gets
out of training.
A bunch of us went to Denver
last Friday on our day off and
went to a dance. I had one of the
lucky numbers on my ticket and
won a 9 pound turkey. I had no
way of getting the turkey so I
sold my ticket to a cop. Wish I
could have s«nt it home to you
folks and then have been there to
help eat it. Suppose you will have
a big dinner tomorrow?
Well here's hoping you have a
nice Thanksgiving. It is time for
chow so I had better close. En
closed is the insignia of the Air
Corps that we sew on our shirts
and coat sleeves.
Thought you
might like to have one.
Lots of Love,
JIM COOKE.
