This fall attention will be cen
tered on a common evil through
out the state. And this is the mat
ter of jury lists. Did you ever
check up these lists from one
court term to another and notice
that the “same old names”
“drawn’ from time to time,
most everyone knows that some
thing isnt just “skookum.”
skinless organisms floating idly
in the sea.
Few people realize that the skin
is itself an organ of the human
body, fully as important to life as
the heart or lungs or brain.
Actually, the skin is the largest
organ of the body. A rug equal
in size and weight to a man's skin
would cover from IB to 20 square
feet of floor space and weigh six
pounds!

cold, from heat, and from too rap

is a regular automatic thermo
stat, working constantly to keep
the body's temperature normal.
The skin serves us well as a
“bureau of information." It warns
us of pain, pressure, and unseen
dangers. It provides us with on-
of the traditional five sense, the
sense of touch.
The skirt is the body's first line
of defense against infection. It has
a secret weapon with which to re
pel unwanted invaders—a hard
outer surface that provides the
germs with no place to live ami no

The skin has the remarkable
ability to reveal the susceptibility
of the body to certain diseases. It
is so sensitive that the accuracy
of the well-known Montoux Test

The attractive red. white and blue window sticker, pictured above, is
the new yardstick of patriotism in the War Bond drive throughout the
nation. With the slogan, “Everybody every pay day. ten percent,” sweep
ing the country, patriotic Americans on the home front are rallying to their
Government's appeal for funds with which to help finance the war. The
home which displays li.e ten percent” sticker is doing its share toward
Victory for America and the United Nations. The stickers are being dis
