NEW POSTOFFICE, STORE AND RESIDENCE
AT O’BRIEN FINISHED LAST FALL
Last fall, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lawson built ore of the nicest, cosiest
and useful buildings in the valley. It houses the O’Brien postoffice, their
grocery store and in the rear their residence. The building follows the
Alpine design of the cabins and offers a striking picture. The building
was built by H. M. Smith.
VOLUNTEER FIRE
DEPARTMENT DOES
A WONDERFUL JOB
One of the institutions in the val
ley that is not so much appreciated
until someone gets into fire trouble, is
the Cave Junction Volunteer Fire de
partment. Organized and financed
by local men, they built a fire truck
with a 210 gallon tank of water and
a booster pump, and if the depart
ment is notified soon enough it can
put out any ordinary fire. This truck
and its personnel has put out four
fires in Cave Junction that perhaps
would have taken the town.
George W. Martin is the chief, and
George Hicks the engineer in charge
of the truck.
