Illinois Valley News, Thursday, May 2, 1940 DRAINAGE PROJECT PROGRESSING F. E. Thompson, district engin eer for WPA projects of Med ford, and H. A. Fallin, district em- ployyment officer, were in the city last Thursday looking over the work of our drainage district. He was indeed agreeably sur prised at the work accomplished in the short time the men have been on the job, and was loud in his praise for Foreman Jack Dix who, according to Mr. Thompson is doing one of the finest jobs of construction work. The work was started at the end of the big drainage ditch that crosses the highway at Scott’s Market. When this ditch is fin ished the men will start on the highway laying the concrete pipe furnished by the state highway commission. Then they will move to the east side of the highway and get the drainage ditches dug for this section of the city. The work is progressing rapidly and Mr. Thompson says they are doing mighty fine work. PINOCCHIO IS COMING Walt! Disney’s second de luxe full-length Technicolor production is “Pinocchio.” an adaption of the story beloved by grown-ups and children alike, which was origin ally written by C. Collodi. The story of “Pinocchio” con cerns an old woodcarver named Geppetto who creates a little pup pet boy of pine. Because the kind ly old man loves children and has never had any of his own, the Blue Fairy brings the marionette to life to be a son to him. But Pinocchio has to prove himself worthy, and the story concerns the many scrapes and adventures he undergoes before this is accom plished. “Pinocchio” is scheduled for an early showing in this city. i KERBY NEWS (Continued (rom Pa1 34 Rounds BLESSED EVENT Born—To Mr. and Mrs. E.
