J. Wilber the Illinois Valley Garden club met with about 27 members and friends present. After a business meeting re ports were given by the delegates just returned from the State Fed eration of Garden clubs at Forest Grove. Also a very interesting talk by Mrs. Effie Smith of the Regional Garden club meeting she attended in San Francisco re cently. A short article on Kalmo- sis, the new southern Oregon trail ing shrub, was read by Mrs. M. Nelson. Mrs. A. A. Johnson read a paper on gardens of Scotland. One of the most attractive and interesting features of the after noon was the visit made to the bottle house where some 400 bot tles were arranged on tables, nooks and shelves. Some of these were from different states sent by friends to Mrs. Wilber, a pair of green, clear glass wine bottles from Denmark, a Scotch bottle from Scotland, a pair of clear glass bottles about 50 years old and one wine bottle dated 1813. Refreshments of hot rolls, shrimp salad, coffee and jee tea were served to the guestsi Hos tesses were Mrs. Doris Boyd, Mrs. Marie Balzke and Mrs. Ella Pat rick. The next meeting of the club will be Friday, June 23 at the home of Mrs. Lucius Robin son. ■o In April Flower Show I The Illinois Valley Garden club will hold a rose and garden flow er show on Friday, June 9th at the I. O. O. F. hall in Kerby. The exhibit will open at 1:30 p. m., continuing into the evening. A program will be given in the even ing and refreshments will be served. The money was raised and checks drawn for the girls. There is still a problem for the Jubilee committee to work out, and that is transportation for the girls to the fair and back. If any one is going on this trip and have room for one or both of the girls, they will do the committee a big favor if they would help. There should be several cars from the valley in the Cavemen caravan leaving Friday, June 16, as this will be one of the best ad vertising campaigns we could get. Get in touch with President Art Drews if you can take the girls or even one of them. It will be ap preciated. ------------ o------------- The Home Economics unit will have their June meeting Friday afternoon at the Home Economics room in the high school. At this meeting the Nolaettes 4 II room Improvement club will exhibit their work. Miss Welch, home de monstration agent will give a talk on 4-H work. The 4-H girls will conduct a 4-H model meeting.
