It is really news when people
manifest such an interest in
church work as we had at the old
Bridgeview church last Sunday.
Sunday school was good and
about 35 people enjoyed the old
style experience meeting and
Communion service which follow
ed. We had a real treat in the
evening both in special music and
preaching. Mr. and Mrs. Byrum
Gray gave us a soprano and flute
number that was enjoyed by all.
Miss Bonnie Lee directed the song
service which was good and every
body took pail. All this prepared
us for the sermon which was de
livered by Rev. Gray, pastor of
the Cave Junction Community
church.
A load of CCC men brought the
total attendance up to 57 and we
expect a greater crowd next Sun
day as it is Easter Service with
appropriate music and program.
Ed Wright, Pastor.

THE DECLAMATION CONTEST
Of inestimable value to-each individual pupil is the
declamation contest which will be held Friday night
in the Kerby high school gym to choose the candidates
for the county finals.
Declamation contests help the students more than
the title reveals. Poise, articulation, personality, and
dozen other characteristics are developed in th« child
through these contests, and we are glad to see the val
ley schools taking such an interest in this class of ed
ucation. Let us all give more thought to such matters
in the children’s welfare. It develops them for life’s
battles faster and better than most forms of contests.
A mile a minute is pretty good speed, but a smile
a minute gets more action.—Selected.
