In no wise shqll I write personally but rather collectively. I shall try to make it plain the cause of disappearing wild life, or at least some of the causes. In the early stages of these let ters, and before I really get “warmed up,” I wish to make it known that I, in my younger days, was somewhat of a “sportsman,” a “game-hog." In those days I was not happy unless I was hunt ing or fishing. Like most all youth it seemed that I had an in herent lust to kill. I wanted to be known as a mighty hunter; in fact I had no sense or shame, no pity for the wild things that came within range of a charge of shot or bullet from my guns; in those days there were no game laws, no game wardens, no "bag’’ limit and no licenses. Never yet have 1 bought a hunting or fishing lic ense. In those days there were no paid government hunters, legal poisoners, poisoners of predatory life from wolf to song-bird, a wild life assassin with immunity from what you or I would be fined or jailed for, legalized assassins that all mankind ought to cry out to high heaven against, a crime against God. man and all nature. Now, if the Kerby Rod & Gun club is sincere in its efforts to sustain what little there is of the fast disappearing forms of wild life, if they truly wish to rehabil- itate, bring back to its pristine glory the wild things that inhab ited our woods and waters, let those who are members and who are its friends, get together en- masse, go in a body to our county court and demand the discontinu ance of the “office” of govern ment “hunter.” Let them hit this evil so hard that the jar will be felt by every conservation club existing under the Stars and Stripes. Let this be the first step in the mighty task of restoring wild life to forest and stream. ■ ■ o ■ ■ International Relations SELMA NOTES Mrs. Ed Norman suffered se vere cuts on her hand when try ing to save herself from a fall.
