Illinois Valley News. Thursday, August 18, 1938 SELMA NOT^S Mrs. Laurie left for her home in Bandon last week, but expects to return again next Saturday. Miss Emma Ramstead and her sister, Cha riot la of Los Angeles, are guests of their sister, Mrs. H. Wilson. Mrs. Maude Hogue and daughter '•Peggy, and Mrs. M. Walton and sons, Tom and Joe are picking hops this week. ’ R. Tucker moved the F. Wales family to Fresno, Calif., recently and while in the southern city visited his sister, Mrs. D. Jones' at Santa Rosa. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Aiken re turned home last Monday from a trip to Montague, where they have been visiting Mrs. Aiken's parents, Mr. and Mrs Weiss —o— Mrs. G Waite and daughter, Peggy, visited the former’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. B. McClure of Upper Deer creek. They left for their home in Bowling, California, the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Radcliffe, Sr., were hosts at a social gathering last week honoring Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes of Newton, Kansas. Mrs. Robbins and son, and .Mrs. O. Morrow and son, of Los Angeles, who are here visiting for a short time. Mrs. Robbins and Mrs. Mor row are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Radcliff and Mrs. Rhodes is a sister of Mr. Radcliff. Other guests were Mrs. J. Davidson, Mr. and Mrs. Ebb Hogue with daugh ter, Peggy, Susan Breazille, Mr. and Mrs. Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Radcliff and two sons. * ------------- •------------- KERBY NEWS NOTES Lucius Robinson and Pauline Rob inson picnicked Sunday at the foot of Eight Dollar mountain, near the mouth of Josephine creek. Marvin Ramsey has returned to the Tennessee lookout west of Kerby, after having charge of a fire fighting crew on the Chetco fire. Other fire fighters who have returned from Chetco are: Wood row Nealy, Cliff Phillips, Lonnie Dixon, Een Robinson, Les Henry, and Glenn Young. Les Henry Sr. and Ken Robinson have gone on the Gasquet fire. —o— At the meeting of the Rebekahs last Wednesday August 10th Mrs. Bessie Watts entertained with a reading during the program part of the meeting.
