Allen recommended against two proposed railroad lines from the Rogue river valley to the sea. The examiner recommended that the Gold Coast railroad’s certificate from Leland to Port Orford, be cancelled. He also recommended against exten sion of the California and Oregon Coast railroad from Grants Pass to Crescent City, California, for which no certificate has been granted. Last week a news dispatch from Washington er- roneously reported cancellation of certificates for both railroads was recommended. Iatst Friday Dr. A. N. Collman, Roy Wells and M. ('. Grounds are being prepared Thursday night, April 7th, there will be a rally at the Mission at which time committee members will be presented and leading men in Josephine county with interest in the out-of-door life and activ ities of young people will be pres ent to speak their approving at- tiutde. “The major activity for the first season will be tennis," re- marked Dr. Brown in telling of the plans for the summer. "Fin ally there will be equipment to meet every need,” he said. “The playing field is open to all residents in Illinois Valley ab solutely free. The purpose to be served socially and the like will be explained Thursday night at the rally in the Chapel.’’ The playing field committee is composed of W. J. McLean, chair man; J. J. Villair, Blake Miller, O. E. Jones and IL II. Wilson.
