Illinois Valley News. Thursday, March 24, 1938 : ¡table venture for another 7000 Water for All Valley (Continued from Page One) acre feet of water going to waste every year to the sea. One per cent of this would irrigate all the available tillable land in the val ley. Mr. Smith said his study of the valley shows that a combination use of water supply by irrigation ditches in the spring and pumping in the summer is the ideal manner of handling the water situation. He said he would go into more de tails in the evening at the Grange hall on this score. Mr. Smith paid a high compliment to the valley when he said that it had great pos sibilities if the people would con nect up with the county as a unit and not try to play a lone hand, in development plans that are now under way. The meeting was held over far beyond the regular time, but no one left. All appreciated the im portance of the disclosures made by the men coming from the FSA, and their statements and their ap pearance at the Chamber was very much appreciated by all. At the last two meetings of the Chamber, no business has been transacted because of the import ance of the talks given to the members. At the next meeting the Chamber will try to take up some of the loose threads of bus iness left off three weeks ago and get back to a normal transaction of its activities. President Drews w requests all members to be on hand at the next luncheon, Tues day noon, March 29th and par take in the discussions of some important business matters that will come up. > ------------- o------------- Subscribe for the News CLASSIFIED AI)S NOTICE The annual meeting of the Kerby Ditch Co. will be held at the I.O.O.F. hall Monday evening, March 28, 1938 at 7:30 sharp.
