Johnson were business visitors in Grants Pass the first of the week. Mrs. Ed Burke of Kerby has been ill for two weeks, but is im- proving very fast at this time. Dr. E. E. Brooks, dentist, is now taking care of all his patients and is at his office every day ex cept Wednesdays and Sundays. Í Miss Bonnie Thorp returned from Seattle recently where she has been visiting her mother, Mrs I.. E. Mrs. Bert St. John, who lives in Kerby, won a cash prize in a contest conducted by the J. R. Watkins company, for a letter on Watkins liniment. Mrs. Ethel Pickett and Claude Clopton left the first of the week for Klamath Falls on business and expect to return the first of next week. Miss Alice Hogue of Kerby is confined to her bed with a bad case of tonsils, She has been sick for more than a week and is still suffering with swollen tonsils. —o— Troy Biddings of Rand, Colora- do, has been visiting his sister, Mrs. C. II. Riblett for the past week. Before returning to his home he will join Mrs. Biddings in Los Angeles. —o— Cave City Women's hold a cooked foods sale from 11 a. m. on, at Hardware store Proceeds to go towards Cave City library to pur chase envelopes and cards for the books. o Westward Travel Is Coming This Way Speeding cooperation among the 1 1 westen states in a $3,000,- 000 campaign to make 1939 a boom year in westward travel, Oregon state officials and tourist Hnd travel organization executives of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California and British Columbia, are meeting today in Portland to further outline the northwest’s part in the program. This was announced recently in Portland by Charles T. Haas, chairman of the Oregon World’s Fair commission, who will be joint host with Governor Charles H. Martin. Mayor Joseph K. Car- son, Jr., of Portland; other com- mission members and San Fran- cisco officials of the 1939 Gold- en Gate International Exposition The conference will open at noon in the Multnomah hotel.
