Ashland. Besides several hundreds
of dollars used in local relief work
ami turned over to the post in the
past L'2 years, money has been sent
outside to help the Kansas flood, the
(lalvcston Hood and the San "Fran
cisco earl hipiake sufferers. .Money
has been sent to the Anderson prison
fund, to the Lincoln Association
fund and to the National Soldiers'
home. This corps give liberally to
ward the building and furnishing
the cottages ni the soldiers' homo at
ltosehurg and helped pay for the
monument in Portland, erected to
the memory of the Oregon volun
teers; also $." to the monument fund
for Loyal Women and every year
money is sent to the Southern Mem
orial and Hed Cross funds. We have
lared for the veterans, the widow
and orphan, have nursed the sick
and buried the dead and helped scat
ter flowers on their graves IVora
tioit hay.
Uev. Robert McLean was called on
for the closing address. He said he
was in doubt just how to address the
newly enfranchised woman and re
lated some amusing incidents rela
tive to the newer order of equality,
ami frankly admitted he would not
like to bo told by his equal comrade
he must stay at home and tend the
baby at night, while she went on
p'eket duty. Mr. Md-can paid a
glowing tribute to the grand work
that has been done in the past and
was being done by the Woman's Re
lief Corps, auxiliary to the (Irand
Army of the Republic. On their
charter hanging in the lodge room
are Mesdames Lucy McLean,
Roxana dreen, Harriet Patrick.

cert at Uoseburg Monday night un

guard. On Tuesday the same or.gan
zation will have charge of the con
cert at Albany. Then the boys will
( toss the river to the west side for a
series of four concerts at Dallas", Mc
Miniivillo, llillsboro, ami N'ewberg.
The baud will include thirty pieces
and all of the men are players of ex
perience. As they have furnished
all the music for the Saturday mat
inee dances, at the college, to w hie a
their programs have given the name
"Hand 1 nformals," and have played
at several i onvocat ions also, as well
us for military drills, they have had
much practice together, and expect
to offer their audiences excellent
music.
They are to give their first concert
of the year in the Corvtillis opera
house December 13, and are plan
ning for their college audiences some
"classy college stunts."
