Hunters Get Game
Clarence Wlnetrout of the Grants
Pass Hardware company, has been
enjoying a hunting trip with his
brother-in-law, who is visiting here
from Galllon, Ohio. The gentlemen
returned Sunday well loaded with
game which they had secured in the
hills near Granite Hill.
To Go To Salt Lake
Mrs. Daniel Martin expects to
leave Thursday for Salt Lake City
to spend an indefinite time with rel
atives. Mr. and Mrs. Martin have
resided here for the past year and
are well pleased with Grants Pass.
Mr. Martin will remain here to look
after their property Interests while
Mrs. Martin Is visiting In Utah.
Grants Pass Craftsman Expert
The pair of Andirons which grace
the fireplace of the handsome office
of the Hotel Josephine have received
much favorable comment from those
who appreciate the artistic In iron
work. They consist of two horizon
tal twisted Irons, running from the
base and topped with a large round
ball Inclosed in a circle of flat iron.
The andirons were made in this city
by James Trimble and are a most
creditable piece of work.
To Lecture on Canal
U. L. Upson, head clerk of the
forestry office in this city, has taken
a temporary leave of absence from
his duties here and gone on a lecture
tour, which will probably extend over
a period of three months. Mr. Up
son is lecturing on the Panama canal
and the people and customs of Pan
ama, and Is equipped with pictures,
which will illustrate his talks and
give Interest and color to his descrlD-
tlons. Four years were snent hv Mr
Upson in the canal zone, and he Is
thoroughly conversant with his sub
ject. Friday and Saturday eveninca
he lectured In Jacksonville and his
next stop will be in Roseburg.
Women of Woodcraft Campaign-
Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Samaln. orean-
lzers for the Women of Woodcraft,
the auxiliary of the Woodmen of the
World, are in Grants Pbbs in the in
terest of the local order, Azalia Cir
cle. Mr. and Mrs. Samaln emart tn
be here for three weeks or more
and during that time they expect to
add BO or more new names to the al
ready large roll of members. With
the addition of this number of mem
bers, Azalia circle, Women of Wood
craft, will be one of the largest bene- j
nciary orders In the city. At the
regular meeting this evening it Is
expected a large delegation of mem
bers will be In attendance to assist
in perfecting plans for the member
ship campaign.
