RESIDENT, DIES.
Selden Norton, an old resident of
Grants Pass, died suddenly at his
home on A street yesterday afternoon
about 6 o'clock. The apparent cause
of his death was heart failure. Ex
cept for a slight attack of rheumr-
tlsm he had not been 111, and the end
was entirely unexpected.
Mr. Norton was born in Erie, Pa.,
on July 14, 1832. He was first mar
ried in 1854, and from that marriage
one son survives him, Albert S. Nor
ton of Galena, Kas. He came to this
city In 1893 and settled in the home
on A street, where the remainder of
his life was passed. Having been left
a widower, he married again In 1898,
taking as his wife Mrs. R. H. Matti
son of this city, who survives him.
Mr. Norton lived a constant christian,
respected by all acquaintances and
loved by friends and neighbors.
Albert S. Norton, who was Immedi
ately notified of tne death of his
father, is on his way to this city from
Kansas, and funeral arrangements
will be deferred until after his arrival.

MRS. EVA L. MOON DIES
AT HOME OF FATHER
The funeral services of Mrs. Eva
L. Moon, who died from organic heart
trouble on August 12, were held at
Hall's chapel Monday afternoon at
2 o'clock with Interment at the Gran
ite Hill cemetery. Mrs. Moon was the
eldest daughter of N. Boynton of this
city, and for a number of years was a
resident of Grants Pass, where she
was esteemed by many friends. For
t.he past several years she has re
sided at Springfield, from which
place her husband, I. G. Moon and son
Irvine, and son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Rice, were sum
moned after Mrs. Moon's sudden de
mise Saturday. Mrs. Moon was 44
years of age at the time of her death.
