Details of the vacuatlon of Cuba
have been completed by Maj. Gen. J
Franklin Bell, chief of Btaff. The
schedule of sailings from Cuba has
been announced at the War Depart
ment. The withdrawal of the army
will begin on January 1.
The army officers and civilian offi
cials will aall from Havana the day
after the Inauguration of President
Gomel, and the troops remaining in
the Island will bewlthdrawn as rap
idly as transportation facilities will
permit. Three army transports will
be used in bringing the troops home,
and all the troops will be landed at
Newport News, Va.
The first of tho American forces
to leave Cuba will be 400 marines,
who will sail on the cruiser Prai
rie January t. On the transport
Sumner tho Twenty-eighth Infantry
will sail for Nemport News, and
thencu proceed to Fort Snellltig.
Minn. The Prairie will leave Cuba
again on January 15, wtth the re
mainder of the marines.
The greater portion of the troops
will sail from Cuba on February 27
In the transports Meade and Me
ridian. This date will see the re
moval of the headquarters of the
army of pacification, the Fifth,
Eleventh and Seventeenth Regi
ments of Infantry, the Eleventh Cav
alry, and liaterles A and B of the
Second Field Arttlery. These troops
wilt proced to Washington to take
part in the Inaugural parade, March
