Watch for announcement later. Dr. Homan, president of Will amette University, spoke to tne students of the High School and the Seventh and Eighth grades on Mon day morning last, December 7. The title of the talk was "Racetracks. Dr. Homan mentioned In commenc ing that we had doubtless had talks on various subjects ranging from "Mow to make the most of Oppor tunities," io "Fire Alarms," and for this reason had decided to seek a new line of thought. Various ex amples were given to show the worth of perserverance and the reward of diligence; In fact the whole talk rang with that good ad vice of "Don't be a quitter. The words of Dr. Homan were greeted by hearty applause by the students. In closing he reminded us of that oldest institution of learn ing, in Oregon, Wllliimetto Univer sity and gave us all an Invitation to attend there when we had finished the High School course, an invita tion which we might well accept. On Friday evening, December 4, two very Interesting basket ball games took place at the Coliseum skating rink. The first was be tween the first and second girl's team of the High School. The sec ond between the local team, known as the "Nuggets" and the High School boys. In the first game the score was 9 to 8 In favor of the first team. In the second game the High School boys were victorious, the score bein 13 to 16 In their favor. This was almost more than the Highs expected as those of the opposing team were both heavier and taller, bnt the game proved, however thnt our boys were quicker which more than offset the advan ces of the "Nuggets."
