The girl's basket ball team Is
planning to play Roseburg early In
January.
The basket ball boys hope to have
a game with Ashland Normal soon.
Watch for announcement later.
Dr. Homan, president of Will
amette University, spoke to tne
students of the High School and the
Seventh and Eighth grades on Mon
day morning last, December 7. The
title of the talk was "Racetracks.
Dr. Homan mentioned In commenc
ing that we had doubtless had talks
on various subjects ranging from
"Mow to make the most of Oppor
tunities," io "Fire Alarms," and for
this reason had decided to seek a
new line of thought. Various ex
amples were given to show the
worth of perserverance and the
reward of diligence; In fact the
whole talk rang with that good ad
vice of "Don't be a quitter.
The words of Dr. Homan were
greeted by hearty applause by the
students. In closing he reminded
us of that oldest institution of learn
ing, in Oregon, Wllliimetto Univer
sity and gave us all an Invitation to
attend there when we had finished
the High School course, an invita
tion which we might well accept.
The December Tokay will be out
next week. It Is getting better and
better all the time. Be wise and
subscribe.
The boys' basket ball team has
new suits for the coming games.
Now see them shine!
On Friday evening, December 4,
two very Interesting basket ball
games took place at the Coliseum
skating rink. The first was be
tween the first and second girl's
team of the High School. The sec
ond between the local team, known
as the "Nuggets" and the High
School boys. In the first game the
score was 9 to 8 In favor of the first
team. In the second game the
High School boys were victorious,
the score bein 13 to 16 In their
favor. This was almost more than
the Highs expected as those of the
opposing team were both heavier
and taller, bnt the game proved,
however thnt our boys were quicker
which more than offset the advan
ces of the "Nuggets."
