There should be no" faction" in any
city. The property of one individual
and every improvement made enhance
the vain a of all property in the cor.

family. When there Is dlioord there
is little progress. When there is a
united pull for everything, its accom

jealonay and hatred are things to be
despised. Envy Is a canker that

The good ladies of the Grants Pass
Wumen's Christian Temperance Union
have sgsia taken np the matter of
providing the SO people of this city
and county with a much-desired, np-
to-date drinking foantain. They had
already secursd something like $125
toward this mott worthy project and
now tbey will put forth every effort
to lecure the remainder of the f'-JOO,
which it is estimated that the foon
tain will coat.
In fact, feeling confident that the
people of tbi city and county would
co-operate in the good undertaking
they have already placed the order
for the fountain 'with the New York
faotory and expect it along in the
early ipring.
They also hope to provide a drink
icg troogb for the horses, a move that
will oertalnlr be appreciated by the
dumb animal of this vlciaity.
Another thing which tbey have
In mind and also one mot excellent

the farmers' wives whe come to the
county seat to do ahoppiag can find a
comfortable place in which to rent
and enjoy themselves. Howsver, this

Jodge Galloway baa decided that
