of Redmeo No. 29 held "High Jinks"

turned out in largs numbers to enjoy
the evening's program.
Grants Pass bag a prominent Mason
in the person of Hon. L. L. Jewell,
who holds the office or Grand Sword
Bearer in the Grand Commandary,
which convenes in Portland this week
and Mr. Jewell, as well as Dr. W.
H. Flanagan, A. H. Gunnel and
Geo. S. Calhoun accompanied bltn, to
the noted gathering.
Medford Redmen are makug
elaborate preparations lor a grand
pow-wow which they are to have
October 13, when the tribes from
southern Oregon will congregate and
many palefaces will be taken into
camp. It promises to be big
demonstration and many Indians from
the local tribe will take in the doings.
Monday evening the members of
Azalia Circle No. 182, Women of
Woodcraft, will have initiation ser.
vsoes and one of those fine times for
which that organization is justly
famous. Refreshments will lie served.

Ashland as the guests of Mr. Corbin,
brother of Mrs. Hollingsworth.
The sacrament of the Lord's Sopper
will be administered at the Bethany
Presbyterian chorcli, Sunday, October
6 and new members will also be pub
licly received.
Rev. Geo M. Gardner, pa'tor of the
M. E. church, Sooth will go to Rofe
bar, next week, to attend the meet
ing of the Columbia conference. He
will take a fine report of his first
year's work.
Preparations for the observance of
the third Sunday in October as
Rally Day by" the Bethany Presby
terian Sunday school are being made.
Committees on program and decora-
tions were appointed by Snperin-1
tendent H. C. Kinney, last Sunday.

Free Methodist chnrch are making a
big effort to raise f'JOO, with which 1
to finish seating the new bouse of
worship and also fit up the new par-1
sonage.

occur the meeting of the District
Convention of the Christian chnrch,
covering the counties of Jackson, Jose
phine, Carry, Coos and Dong Ian. The
Grants Pass church will be well re
presented.

E chnrch Epwortb League has more
than donbled during the past year,
while the mid-week prayer meetings
have increased 60 per cent, in attend
ance. The Ladies' Aid has grown in
membership until now it has 170 en
Friday evening the ladies of the
Bethany Presbyterian church gave a
novel affair, each member' bringing a
Inncb basket and the gentlemen were
invited to come at 6 o'clock and en
joy the repast It proved to be a
very enjoyable affair.
Tuesday evening the members of
the First Christian Endeavor Society
tendered Miss Morelle Hair, one of
their members a farewell on her de
parture for Eugene, where she enters
the state university. I; was a very
pleasant affair.

last service before the meeting of con
