Htf But Two Settler.
D. M. fionsmao called at the
Conrier office Monday to ascertain
what the Grants Pass Fioit Growers
Union ooald do in regard to handling
',. bis crop of prnnes of which be has
fine crop on the ISO trees be has on
his farm on Ball creek, a small tribu
tary to the Applegate, three miles
above Wilderfille. As canned fruit
and cold storage green frnit is so
. plentiful and cheap , all oyer the
f country tl)6 demand or dried fruit
' -1 ba. almost oeased and the Eastern
dealers are only offering to 3 cents
per pound Jfor this season's prune
' crop. As Rogue Hirer apples, pears,
peaches and grapes are in sooh de
mand that good prloes can always be
J bud, It will lead to the few remaining
prune orchards being dog np and the
land planted to more profitable fruit
trees.
Mr. Bousman gave vetch a trial this
season. He sowd an acre early last
lall to vetch andats and he harvested
nearly five tons of bay from the land.
He thinks it is the forage plant for
land, a rotation crop or for land too
dry for good orops of alfalfa.
