I weut out aud gathered a few mushrooms. I Imd been told exactly how 10 tell mushrooms from toacUools and was not afraid of them myself. They were prepared aud cooked according to role aud taken to the table. Now my husband is somewhat prejudiced agaiust mushrooms, fearing that a toadstool might have crept in, and, refusing to tat them himslef, ob jected to niy partaking of them, say ing that he thought there was enough good food without running the risk of eating toadstools. Now will not his sentiments in this apply to driuk iug beer? Suppose that beer has a slight food-value as some contend, is it wise, while there are so many good, wholesome, nutritious foods to ruu the risk of the alcohol contained in beer for the slight nutrition it may contain? Before deciding that it is ever good for the human system let as oall npon the witness stand some who have studied its effeots and know whereof they speak. Senator Gallin ger, what have yon to say about it? The devilfish crushing a man in his long, winding arms, and sucking bis blood from his mangled body, iB not so frightful an assailant as this deadly, but insidious enemy, which fastens itself npon its victim, and daily becomes more and more the wretched man's master, and finally dragging him to his grave 1 1 a time wheu other men are in their prime of mental and bodily vigor. Now let us call some of the medi cal fraternity for with their years of experience who Is better prepared to judge than they? Dr. Burgen, of Toledo, state your opinion : Beer drinkers are absolutely the most dangerous class of subjects a sur geon caii operate on. Insmniticant scratches are liable to develop a long train of dangerous troubles. Some times delirium tremens resnlts from a small hart. It is dangerous for a beer drinker to even cut his finger. All surgeons hesitate to perform opera tions on a beer driuker that they would undertake with the greatest confidence on anyone elte. Dr. Rideuour, do ynu consider betr a harmless beverage? r Beer drinkers are peculiarly liable to die of pneumonia. Their vital power, their power of resistance, is so lowered that they are liable to drop off from any form of acute disease, such as fevers, pneumonia, etc. As a rule when a beer driuker takes pueu monia, he dies. Now, Dr. John Madden of Milwau kee, WU., what is your opinion? Beer produces fatty degenerations. which the stronger drinks do not pro duce. It is also responsible for many heart disorders. Most important of all, perhaps, is the fact that beer drinking is the primary school of the drunkard. Di. Madden gives the per cent of alcohol in beer as from 3 to 6 or even 6 per cent Many more testimonies similar to the above might be given but space forbids. Enough has been said to prove to any fair mludd per son that beer is an Injury and a great one, too. Will the temperance people remove beer from the condemned list as they are advised hy some to do? I think I can cay emphatically, NO! A Healing Gospel. The Rev. J. 0. Warreu, pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, Belair, Oa., says of Electrio Bitters: "It's a God send to mankind. It cured me of lame back, stiff joints, and complete physi cal collapse. I was so weak .it tot k me half an houi to walk a mile. Two bottles of Electrio Bitters have made me so strong I have just walked three miles in 60 minutes and feel like walking three more. It's made a new mau of me." Startling But True. Pjople the world over were horri fied on learning of the burning1 of a Chicago theater in which nearly 600 people lost their lives, yet more than five times this number or over 8000 people died from pneomonia in Chicago during the same year, with scarcely a passing notice. Everyone of these cases of pneumonia resulted from a cold and could have been pre vented by the timely use of Chamber lian's Cough Remedy. A great many who had every reason to fear pneo monia have warded it off by the prompt nse of this remedy. The fol lolwing is an instance of this sort: "Too much cannot be said in favor of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, and especially for colds and influenza. I know that it cored my daughter, Laura, of a severe cold, and I believe saved her life wheo she was threat ened with pneomonia." W. D. Wil cox, Logan, New York. Sold by all druggists. Rctormund has given Hyoinei a most thorough and remarkable test For a long time he has offered to re fund the money to auy purchaser of Hyomei, if it failed to benefit. The remedy has made so many cures among his custom' rs that he has urged its use in the most chronic cases of catarrh. Breathed for a few minutes four times a day, through the inhaler that oomes with every ontflt, it soothes the irritated mucous membrane of the nose, throat, and luugs, kills the catarrhal germs, and restores complete health. Its healing, antiseptic fragrance penetrates to the most re mote air passages, as no medicine taken into the stomach can possibly do. Immediate relief almost always follows the nse of Hyomei, and great benefit is seen after a few days' treat ment. The complete Hyomei outfit costs only $1, and consists of an inhaler that can be carried in the pocket or purse, and will last a lifetime, a medicine dropper, and a bottle of Hyomei. If this is not sufficient for a complete cure, additional bottles of Hyomei can be obtained for 50 cents. Compare this small expense with the fees charged by specialists, and re member, too, if Hyomei does not cure, Rotermund will return your money. La Grippe and Pnecmonia. Pneumonia often follows la grippe but never follows the nse of Foley's Honey and Tar. It cures la grippe coughs and prevents pneumonia and consumption. Ask for Foley's Honey and Tar and refuse any substitute offered. Mr. G. Vacher, of 167 Os good St..
