Iu no town in Oregon are the de pot grounds and switch yard better lighted than is the station at Grantt Pass, and very few plaoes are lighted as well. While the railroad grounds are quite extensive, embracing eight acres, yet all the main part where the depot, round house, water tank, coal and wood bankers and switches are located, is well lighted. This fine Hunting comes from the 'c light that the city has installed on Sixth street, at the ; rai lroad crossing, and the aro light .that the Southern Paciflo has pnt up at the west end of the derot, supplemented by the aro rtreet lights on North and South Sixth street and West G street and the incandescent lights on the other streets adjoining the depot ground-. The big elec tric sign of 85 high piwer incandes cent lights on the front of the Condor Water & Power Company's office bnildiug and transformer station also aids yery materially in lighting the depot grounds. In addition to being a Tery great convenience to the traii.men and all the railroad employes about the round house and to Hie traveling public, this bright light gives the depot grounds a cheerful appearauce at night and dispels that gloomy aspeot go noticeable about the stations in many towns. Strangers passing through the city on the three night passenger trains will now be able to see something of Grants Pass and this evidence of progressivenps will give them a very favorable impression of 'this city.
