Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Cunningham
who for about II years were two of
Gold Hill s respected citisens, but
now of Grants Pass, were visiting
witb old time friends here this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham will at

J. W. Berry, an Applegate farmer,
was io Grants Psas Saturday. Mr.
Berry Is a large grower of potatoes
and onions and be says both of bis
crops are very promiaing. His
onions, which lie grows from seed, are
making a good growth and are be
ginning to form bottoms. His early
potaeoes are now ripe aud the late ones
are certain of big yield. Mr. Berrv
has been raising potatoes and onions

W. L. Messner was in Grant Pass
Sunday to a tend services at the

J. R. McKay had ou exhibition at
the Gold Hill Bank, this week, a
gold brick (genuine gold, too) which
was a beauty and no mistake. It was
Ave inches lu length, by one and one
half inches in diameter and weighed
an even tl200. It was. taken from
the Corporal O mine on the 'eft fork
of Sardine creek aud from 30 tons of
ore. Mr. McKay bat taken out about
f 1000 this winter and has only been
doing development work. The Cor

R. H. Dolph, arrived in Grants
Pass Saturday from Prescott, Arizona.
Mr. Dolph is a miner and having
heard good reports of Southern
Oregon comet here to engage in pros
pecting. Ho aaya Arizona ia very
much overdone and ia now no place
for a mining man of limited means,
and not much bo ter for the big
capitalists either. Hu thinks there
will be a large number both of pros
pectors and investors come to South
ern Oregon this yea from Arizona, at
this district la now talked of more

Rev. J. W. Hockaday arrived In
Orauta Pass Monday aud will spend
a few days here aud will hold ser
vices at the Church of God, for which
denomination ho is a traveling evan
gelist. Ho came from California aud
it going uortli on a tour of Oregon.
He travels iu his own rig and has a
camp outSt. For several years imst
he hat toured the Pacific Coast travel-
lug by himself. He it now 80 yean
old but halo and hearty and he it
giving hit services free other than
hit expenses which are borne by his
church people and he works aud
preaches with all the enthusiasm of a

The commencement exercises of the
