Jack Bunyard was fined f'.O ou Sat
urday In Police Judge Mayhee's court
for assault on D. L. Steltz. As the
evidence indicated that the assault
was unprovked a heavy penalty was
imposed and iu default of the
money- Hunyard was set to work on
the streets in process of serving a 25
day sentence. This occupation, how
ever, was not to his liking aud after a
few days work he sei.ed an oiKr
tnuiry for escape and his iuce been
numbered among the missing.
Harry Grant, lately of this city,
and more recently of Gold Hill, is
said to have absconded from the lat
ter place leaving a number of debt.
Ho was in charge Hit re of the cloth
ing store of Welch & Grant, which
has been closed and the bills of the
firm paid by Mr. Welch Grant was
married onlv a few weeks ago to
Miss Mae Curry of Gold Hill. He
w as known here as a young niau of
apparent good habit and his lute is-
cap do has occasioned considerable
surprise.
