Hie county court wai cotnpltled quite
us promptly as that of the circuit
court, and no neglect was done to the
other duties thut pertain to the office,
for the clerk of Josephine county, In
addition to being clerk of both the
circuit and couuty courts does duty as
county rrcrrder, this county having
no recorder, and attends to record .Dg
all transfers and to filing of papers,
the issuing of marriage licenses a'id
a multitude of other duties. And
then there are the innumerable re
quests, both personally and by mail,
on every imaginable, subject cveu to
the whereabouts of a deserting bus
baud, the price of farm land, or of
the lecord of some minor, obscure
matter transacted years ago, that
have to be attended to each day.
Aud it can be furthe- haid that Mr.
Cheshire, attends to all these multi
tude of duties with the assistance of
hut one deputy. That position is held
by T. P. Judson and to him much
en dit is also due for the promptness
and ttiorotiKhnesH with which the
duties of the clerk's office are ilia
I -itched, for he is ijuito as hard a
