From Alaska
Mr. J. W. Young, and his wife, form*
tr y Mis« Ada Sparhawk of thin county,

Mr. Young has been a missionary in
Alaska for about 15 years. Mr. and
Mrs. Young are located at Saxman,

Indians ae very tractable and more easily
managed than white children, and that
the Indians generally are well clothed,
live comfortaby and have money.
The
Chinook jargon is the commcn language
ufcommunication between the Indians
and the whites. Mr. Young preaches to
the Indians in Chinook. They have
many interesting things to tell uf Alaska,
and have some very interesting curios
among other thing-», a piece of ivery, flit
and elliptical-shapeJ, over two inches
long and atiout an inch thick that hid
been worn by an Alaskan lady in her
lower lip.
Mr. and Mrs. Young will hi ay here a
fuwdajM only, and then will go to Lr s
Angeles fur a short visit, and then will
return io Alaska expecting to arrive
there some time in September.
