Not bad for a campus with a total enrollment of 244. • Warrenton High School’s CTE building has a new plasma cutter for use by those taking welding classes. • Those in the high school’s STEM class will get firsthand experience in hydroponics this year. • Warrenton High School’s library is undergoing a makeover to a more media-centered space. • The Warrenton-Hammond School District has 15 students in Warrior Academy, nine students enrolled in WAVE, three in online classes, and three working on credit recovery. Cahn, who lives in Warren- ton, is CMH’s fifth DAISY honoree. He has been a CMH nurse for more than three years and was nominated by a patient and his wife who wrote a letter to the hospital following his surgery. “Starting an IV in him is of- ten very painful. We always ask the nurse to take their time to make this as com- fortable as possible,” they wrote. “Michael used a lot of lidocaine and gave it time to numb his arm. “He hardly felt the IV in- sertion and is very grateful that Michael was patient, thoughtful, understanding and gentle, and even willing to put up with his silly jokes.” The DAISY Foundation was created in 1999 after 33-year- old J. Patrick Barnes died of complications from an au- to-immune disease. Mussel harvesting also remains closed, but recre- ational bay clam and crab harvesting is open. Dan Hale Bonney Lake, WA Daniel Lee Hale left this world on Sept. 21, 2022, at the age of 81. Dan was born on Jan. 02, 1941, to Ola Belle Earls-Hale and Walter Custer Hale at St. Mary’s Hosp. in Astoria, OR. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and siblings Norma Jean and Betty Jo. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Betts-Hale; children Patti (Mark) Cordes, David (Lorraine) Hale, and Julie Hale; grandchildren Mark Jr., Rachel, and Miles; great-grandchildren Emma, Natalia, James, Olivia; and his loving big sister, Charlotte (Charles) Bergerson; nieces; nephews; and countless friends. Dan (Daddy to his children) was a lifelong career me- chanic, craftsman, race car driver, sailor, philosopher, and adventurer. Never one to grab the spotlight, if you spent the time to get to know him, you would always learn in his presence. From literature, music, astronomy, geography, science, engineering, carpentry, and more; Dan was cu- rious, thoughtful, and always learning. He gifted his chil- dren with a foundation of knowledge and curiosity that continues to grow with their families and beyond. “We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still.
