Seaside teacher killed in car crash Seaside School District’s band director was killed along with another driver Saturday when their vehicles collided on Highway 26. Kyle Rieger, 26, of War- renton suffered major inju- ries and was flown to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he died. Fredrick Scheffler, 49, of Portland was pronounced dead at the scene. Scheffler was headed west on Highway 26, about 10 miles east of Seaside, when he lost control of his 2020 Tesla Model Y and collided with Rieger’s Hyundai Tuc- son van, which was headed east, according to Oregon State Police.
