Because much of it was filmed in Astoria, local events are planned all week long to cel- ebrate. • The Oregon Film Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. They’ll be selling the booklet “Become an OreGOONIan,” which in- cludes 37 fun things to do. Photos with the Goonies Jeep will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5. • A costume con- test and screening of “The Goonies” be- gins at 7 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Liber- ty Theatre. The mov- ie is free, but it’s $10 to enter the costume contest. There are prizes for first, sec- ond and third place. • Eighties Dance Party from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 3, at Astoria Arts & Movement Center. Admis- sion is $10 and all ages are welcome. • One-Eyed Willy’s Never Say Dive Boat Race, 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Fla- vel House Pond. First place wins $50. Tenor Guitars to gather June 3-4 The 12th annual Tenor Gui- tar Gathering is scheduled for June 3 and 4. Tenor guitarists and oth- er four-stringed instrument players will gather for two days of workshops, jam ses- sion, and concerts in the Charlene Larson Center for Performing Arts, 588 16th St., Astoria. A crowd favorite is the an- nual sing-along trolley ride filled with tenor guitars, ban- jos, mandolins, and assorted instruments, which will oc- cur Friday morning. Kick it Out at Heart by Heart concert A concert featuring the works of rock band Heart will be at 7 p.m. June 4 at the Liberty Theatre, 1203 Com- mercial St. The band Heart by Heart features origi- nal Heart bassist Steve Fossen and drummer Michael Derosier, the driving forces behind classic hits such as “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” “Crazy On You,” “Magic Man,” “Even It Up,” “Heart- less,” “Kick It Out,” and more. Heart’s roots are in Seat- tle in 1967, with sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson joining in the mid-’70s. Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Fossen and Derosier are back together now with Sale proceeds support the nonprofit club’s activi- ties, which include financial and in-kind support for the Downtown Seaside Flower Basket Project and the But- terfield Cottage Garden and grounds maintenance. Park offers birding with a ranger Bird watchers and those who’d like to begin birding are invited to join a park ranger at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, for “Let’s Go Birding” at Fort Stevens State Park. Some binoculars will be provided, but guests are urged to bring their own and prepare to see the area’s mi- grating songbirds. Participants should gather at Battery Russell – enter the park through the main day- use entrance.
