Nonprofit radio
station’s pledge
drive begins soon
KMUN’s Fall Pledge Drive
begins Sept. 20.
Volunteer
programmers
will be asking residents to
call, click or send a donation
to the station, with a goal
of 100 new members and
$50,000 collectively.
Member support accounts
for about a third of the sta-
tion’s budget.
The number of members
and donations are important
to the grants KMUN receives
for the rest of the budget.
Local grantors use the fig-
ures to determine the amount
of grants from the Corpora-
tion for Public Broadcasting,
which accounts for another
third of the budget.
“I’m excited about several
elements of the fall drive,”
Membership Director Janet
Fryberger said. “We’re back
to a shorter, one-week for-
mat, programmers are back
in the air room, and we’ve
introduced a couple of new
payment methods.”
Donors can pay by debit or
credit card, text-to-donate by
texting KMUN to 44-321.
Of KMUN’s 1,262 members,
369 contribute monthly.
Among the station’s pro-
grams are Joanne Ridout’s
“Columbia River Ship Re-
port,” Teresa and Jessica’s
“In Season” show, plus soul,
funk, folk, reggae and classi-
cal music.
