The Columbia Press 8 September 3, 2021 Events Fort holds event with disc golf, cornhole games Fun at the Fort, an after- noon of outdoor games and activities, is set for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5, at Fort Stevens State Park. The event is open to all ages and will include a bubble station, disc golf, cornhole games and arts and crafts. A barbecue lunch with hot- dogs, chips and a drink will be available for $1. All activities are in the his- torical area of the park. Take a drive by historical sites Poetry entries sought by guild Cannon Beach History Cen- ter is sponsoring a drive-by tour of historic sites through- out the month of September. Sites in Cannon Beach, Tolovana and Arch Cape are featured. The annual Can- non Beach Cottage Tour is the center’s main fundraiser each year. But this year, for the safety of all, the 18th an- nual tour will be a drive-by contactless adventure and tickets can be purchased for a donation of your choice. The Writer’s Guild of As- toria seeks poetry from res- idents of Clat- sop, Pacific and Tillamook counties for a contest in connection with Jericho Brown’s visit to the area. Brown Brown, au- thor of anthologies “The Tradition,” “The New Testa- ment,” and “Please,” won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. He will talk and read from his works at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Liberty Theatre, 1203 Com- mercial St., Astoria. The three winners of the poetry competition will be invited to work with a perfor- mance coach and read during the event. First place winners also will receive $100 gift cards to Lucy’s Books and their works will be featured on the Writer’s Guild website. Entrants can submit up to three poems as a single .doc, .docx, or .pdf attachment to info@thewritersguild.org. Each entry should include the poet’s name, competi- tion category, home address, email, and phone number. The guild will judge the en- tries in three categories: mid- dle school, high school and college/community. The Oswald West house Warrenton Community Library 160 S. Main Ave. 10-6 Mon-Fri 10-2 Saturdays Beer week fundraiser is for the dogs For the Dogs Day, a fund- raiser for the South Pacific County Humane Society, begins at noon Sunday, Sept. 12, at North Jetty Brewing, 4200 Pacific Way, in Seaview, Wash. The event is co-sponsored by North Jetty and the Northbank Beer Week fes- tival, which celebrates inde- pendent craft beers during the first week of September. Adoption dogs will be ro- tated in from noon to 4 p.m. on the pet-friendly front porch and back patio; soft pretzels and hot dogs will be served, and outside food is welcome. Children may be on the premises until 6 p.m. There will be raffles and the taproom will serve beer, wine, cider and mimosas. A dollar of every pint sold will benefit the Humane Society. Concert tells 2016 election tales “Warning Signs,” a multi- media film and live musical performance by Myshkin Warbler and her band, is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at KALA Perfor- mance Center, 1017 Marine Drive, Astoria. Warbler is an outspoken lib- eral singer-songwriter whose show was created in response to the 2016 national election that brought Donald Trump into office. Tickets are $15 and available through brownpapertickets. com. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Library plans book bag sale Warrenton Community Li- brary will have a used-book bag sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the library, 160 S.
