Abel Clatsop Community Col- lege’s nursing program re- ceived an eight-year re-ap- proval from the Oregon State Board of Nursing. The approval was the cul- mination of a yearlong self- study process as well as a three-day site visit from the board’s representative, Dr. Sarah Wickenhagen. Wickenhagen found no de- ficiencies in Clatsop’s nursing program and her recommen- dations will guide the college in providing increased sup- port to the program and its students. The surveyor lauded the college’s support staff, ad- ministration and Board of Education for their support. “We are very honored and excited to receive approval for the maximum amount of time from the OSBN,” said Doris Jepson, CCC’s Nursing and Allied Health Depart- ment director. “It validates the work (we do) in our re- gion to provide a top-notch nursing program. CCC’s nursing program was established in 1985 and trains essential health care workers for the region. Since 2015, the program has been a partner school with the Ore- gon Consortium for Nursing Education. Clatsop graduates who ob- tain their license are eligi- ble to continue their nursing education and complete a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Oregon Health & Science University, Linfield Univer- sity, and other institutions.
