Mayor works
hard for city and
its residents
I am writing to the citizens
of Warrenton because many
people are unaware of the
amount of time and energy
our mayor, Henry Balensifer,
devotes to his way-underpaid
job as mayor.
When our “Coffee with the
Mayor” was able to take place
at 9 a.m. Mondays, anyone
who wanted could appear

“Cannon Beach and Clat-
sop County are home to me,”
she said. “I look forward to
supporting public health and
working with community
partners to ensure a smooth
transition while continuing an
effective response to the pan-
demic.”
The county plans to launch
a search for a permanent re-
placement for McNickle short-
ly. The Public Health Depart-
ment has a staff of 25 and an
annual budget of $4.1 million.
It provides a range of services
including maternal and child
health, immunizations, repro-
ductive health, communicable
disease response and environ-
mental health.
The department has led the
local COVID-19 pandemic
response with case investi-
gations, contact tracing and
testing, and is working in
partnership with Columbia
Memorial Hospital and Prov-
idence Seaside Hospital on
vaccine distribution.
Letter to the editor
and discuss issues with him. I
took the time to look for oth-
er cities that might have such
a continual citizen informa-
tion event and found none.
When CV19 first appeared,
with Henry’s leadership War-
renton quickly responded to
protect our senior citizens
against that threat.
Henry has also done sev-
eral well-received Facebook
podcasts providing accurate
information during the CV19
battle.
There really is quite a long
list, which I will skip here, of
the accomplishments War-
renton has benefited from
under Henry’s leadership.
I believe our mayor works
hard and has done more for
our citizens than any other
mayor in the state, regardless
of size.
I am hoping that people will
reach out and thank Henry
for the things he has done for
this community. Somebody
saying “thanks” can really
make a difference.

The third and fourth crew
members, one pulled from
the water and one who’d
climbed onto the jetty rocks,
were treated at Adventist
Health Tillamook Hospital.
Friends of both men who
died have set up separate Go-
FundMe pages to raise mon-
ey for the families.
As of Wednesday, $56,000
had been raised for Angie
Chase and sons Zach, Cord,
Bowen and Brayden. About
$12,000 had been raised for
Zappone’s partner, Darby
Workman.
Chase had been a fisherman
since he was a teenager and
