8 The Columbia Press August 7, 2020 Upcoming events A night for those suffering ‘Shanghaied’ withdrawals An outdoor performance of “Shanghaied in Astoria” is scheduled for 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14. The event includes some live performances and por- tions of prior years’ perfor- mances will be showed on a movie screen outside the theater. The audio will be broadcast over a low-power FM transmitter so people can stay by or in their vehicles to hear the show. The event is free, although the group hopes to raise funds through the sale of beer and wine, hot dogs, sau- sages and popcorn. Other do- nations also are welcome. Restrooms will be open, but other parts of the playhouse will be closed. Attendees should bring camp chairs if they prefer to sit outside their vehicles. The playhouse is at 129 W. Bond St., Astoria. The event is weather per- mitting, so other dates have been reserved if it rains Aug. 14. County conference explores disasters items and more. Food will be available in the kitchen. A public videoconference on Clatsop County’s plans for moving its public works facil- ity and establishing emergen- cy evacuation routes will be held Thursday, Aug. 13. County commissioners have prioritized the reloca- tion of essential buildings and supplies outside the tsu- nami inundation zone as well as establishing ways to deliv- er services and evacuate res- idents if a disaster damages the region’s roads and high- ways.
