    Hiking club sponsors walk around Cannon Beach
Angora Hiking Club’s first
hike of the year is Saturday,
Feb. 22, in Cannon Beach.
The easy 3 ½ mile hike in-

a spruce reserve, ponds for
bird-watching and a “secret”
viewpoint of Haystack Rock.

The hike will begin about
9:45 a.m. from the free bus
parking area in the 1100 block
of South Hemlock. There are
restrooms adjacent to the lot.
Membership is not a re-
quirement for joining the
hike.
College news
Maria Heyen, a 2019 War-
renton High School graduate,
is one of 42 students selected
as a new strengths coach for
the Clifton Strengths Institute
at the University of Nebras-
ka-Lincoln College of Business.
Heyen is a freshman ma-
joring in management and
international business at the
university.
The new coaches will join
returning coaches to mentor
more than 750 first-year busi-
ness students.
The new strengths coaches
are from eight states and rep-
resent 21 academic majors.
Thirty-two attend the College
of Business.
