101. A business owner reported
gas was stolen during the night
from at least seven vehicles
parked at the location. Thieves
left behind two fuel cans and
may have been chased away by
someone.

east Third Street. A woman
reported someone stole a $600
bumper for a 2002 Audi GT.
The bumper had been removed
from the car for maintenance
and had been leaning against
the side of the house.

reported someone stole two full
propane tanks valued at $100.

lot. Jacob C. McCleary, 33, of
Joseph was arrested on suspi-
cion of driving under the influ-
ence of alcohol. He was booked
at Clatsop County Jail, where
his blood-alcohol content was
recorded at 0.23 percent.
Man arrested after assaulting nephew on Main Avenue
A man visiting relatives in
Warrenton was arrested ear-
ly Sunday after he allegedly
assaulted his nephew.
Police were called to the
home in the 300 block of
South Main Avenue at 12:50
a.m. following a distur-
bance.
A 25-year-old man met of-
ficers outside. The left side of
his face was swollen, his left
wrist was injured and there
was blood on his shirt, ac-
cording to a probable cause
declaration written by the
arresting officer. He also
showed the officer a shat-
tered iPad.
As the officer was inter-
viewing the victim, the uncle
stepped outside. As the of-
ficer spoke with him, it was
clear the uncle was intoxi-
cated, his speech was slurred
and he was uneasy on his
feet, according to the decla-
ration.
The uncle was defiant and
argued with the officer over
anything he was asked, the
officer wrote.
Rick R. Escalera, 41, of Ba-
kersfield, Calif., was taken to
Clatsop County Jail, where
he was booked for assault on
his nephew and criminal mis-
chief for tossing the iPad on
the pavement.
