p izza h ut Closes
The owner of Pizza Hut
restaurants in Warrenton
and Seaside closed both loca-
tions last week without warn-
ing.
“We would like to thank our
valued customers for their
many years of loyal patron-
age,” reads a notice posted
in the windows. “We have
decided to close this location
and apologize for any incon-
venience.”
The franchise owner, Pizza
Hut of the Rockies, is based
in Boise, Idaho, and no con-
tact information was avail-
able.

Warrenton’s Urban Re-
newal Agency approved a
$287,865 contract with Big
River Construction Tuesday
night for three landscaping
projects: the park at the four-
way stop, a triangular park
at the intersection of South
Main Avenue and Alternate
Highway 101, and the bulb-
outs along South Main.
All three include the grind-
ing and removal of asphalt.
The project initially had
a bigger vision, with fancy
pavers at the downtown park
and landscaping at all four
corners, but the project’s sole
bidder came in $235,000
higher than what had been
set aside in the budget.
The construction company
and the city’s representative
worked to reduce the proj-
ect’s scope and get the price
down.

The city of Warrenton has
partnered with the Oregon
State Historic Preservation
Office to conduct a “window
survey” of downtown histor-
ic properties, reports Brenda
Hoxsey of Spruce Up War-
renton.
The survey will help the
group meet its mission to re-
vitalize downtown, and pro-
vide property owners with
historic information as a ba-
sis to apply for grants from
the city and state.
Two state representatives
are in town Thursday and
today to conduct the sur-
vey.
Results will be shared with
Spruce Up and posted on the
city’s website under “Com-
munity & Economic Develop-
ment Department.”

Pizza Hut’s closure leaves

Youngs Bay Plaza empty be-
tween Natural Grocers and
the vacated Dooger’s restau-
rant.
Kelli Maks, a leasing agent
with Commercial Realty Ad-
visors NW, said her company
is working to lease the avail-
able spaces, but has no seri-
ous offers in the works.
C ounty f air farMhouse
An old farm house adja-
cent to Clatsop County Fair,
which was declared surplus
by county commissioners
earlier this year, goes on
the auction block at 11 a.m.
today, Sept. 13, at the fair-
grounds, 92937 Walluski
Loop, Astoria.
The four-bedroom house
was built in 1914. While it
has lots of charm, it needs a
lot of work.
The successful bidder must
remove the house from the
property.
