Johnson deserves thanks Sen. Betsy Johnson de- serves thanks and credit for her courageous stand in opposing HB 2020. With over 100 amend- ments, it was obvious that HB 2020 had many prob- lems. Even though some indus- tries were able to get some relief, it was obvious that large increases in energy costs would negatively im- pact all Oregonians. Fuel prices would likely rise over 20 cents per gallon in the first year of implemen- tation, and only get worse each year as the supply of carbon credits shrinks. It is understandable that so many business were considering leav- ing Oregon if HB 2020 passed. Sen. Johnson rec- ognized that we need to re- duce fossil fuel use in ways that don’t close Oregon businesses and create se- vere economic hardships on our citizens. Sen. Johnson’s firm op- position stopped the rush to push this flawed legisla- tion onto the public. Sen. Johnson, we appre- ciate your stand for Orego- nians and the businesses that support us.
