The creatures were appreciated by a full house. The library has regular storytime at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Satur- days and special programs throughout the month. Out for a ‘troll’ City of Warrenton Operations Manager Kyle Sharpsteen was one of three winners at the 2019 Troll Run, which occurred during the Astoria Midsummer Scandinavian Festival at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds on June 22. Sharpsteen of Astoria won the men’s division, Janel Dalin of Cornelius won the women’s divi- sion, and Augusta Hayrynen of Warrenton won the kid’s division. 35th season of ‘Shanghaied’ opens next week in Astoria The 35th season of “Shang- haied in Astoria” opens July 11 at the Astor Street Opry Company Playhouse, 129 W. Bond St. More than two dozen per- formers, some of them com- munity members who have performed in the show since it started in 1985. The historical comedy and musical melodrama is about a heroine who owns a fishing cannery and a bad guy who wants it for himself. The hero is a Finnish boy named Eric Olsen who has four lovely, but unwed, sisters. The play is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Satur- day nights with three 2 p.m. Sunday matinees. A class covering the basics of setting up a new business will be held July 10 at Clat- sop Community College. The course is designed to help individuals decide if they’re ready, what it takes to run a small business in Clat- sop County, and if there’s a customer base to support it. It also explores funding op- tions and legalities. The class is taught by Jenni- fer Newhall and is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Towler Hall, Room 306.
