vehicle in
Clatskanie,

suspect’s
vehicle is
surrounded.

Police
spotted the truck headed
north on I-5 near exit 27 and
attempted to pull the man
over, but he fled at speeds
over 100 mph and used all
three lanes to evade police,
according to the report.
The suspect avoided spike
strips
and
intentionally
swerved at a deputy who
was outside of his vehicle at-
tempting to deploy the spike
strips.
The suspect vehicle took
exit 39 and collided with a
vehicle that was stopped for
a red light, police said. While
the vehicle was damaged, the
occupant was not injured.
The suspect took the Lew-
is and Clark bridge into Or-
egon, then continued west
on Highway 30. The driver
forced eastbound vehicles out
of their lanes in his attempt
to flee.
As the suspect continued
into Clatskanie, he collided
with a sheriff’s patrol vehi-
cle and was then pinned in
by multiple patrol vehicles to
end the pursuit. The man at-
tempt to flee the vehicle and
resisted arrest, police said.
Deputies deployed a tas-
er and a K-9 unit to take the
suspect into custody. One
deputy was cut by broken
glass during the altercation,
requiring sutures.
Layna was convicted in
2016 of burglarizing a barn,
stealing a motorhome and
trafficking in stolen property.
