dangerment. He was booked at
Clatsop County Jail, where his
blood-alcohol level was recorded
at 0.10 percent.

Man arrested for strangling sister
when she tried to wake him for work

A 22-year-old Warrenton
man was arrested Saturday
after he allegedly strangled
his sister for waking him up,
according to a police report.
Kenneth Leon Standring
II was arrested on suspicion
of fourth-degree domestic
violence and strangulation
following the 1 p.m. assault
at his mother’s home in the
1000 block of Seventh Ave-
nue in Hammond.
Standring had been sleep-
ing in a bedroom and
wouldn’t answer when his
mother and sister attempted
to wake him so he could go
to work, according to a prob-
able cause declaration writ-
ten by Officer Teresa McKee.
They went outside the house
and looked through a win-
dow and thought there was
something wrong because he
was laying half on and half
off his bed.
Standring’s mother broke
down the bedroom door, at
which point the man began
yelling at his mother and
sister and looking for his
Xanax and marijuana. He
broke crystal glassware in
one room and broke several
bottles of condiments from
the refrigerator, according
to the report.
“When he could not find
what he was looking for, …
he shoved past (the victim)
and he then pushed (her)
up against the wall and then
wrapped his arm around
(her) neck, then went to
the floor with her, where
he ended up on top of her,”
McKee wrote. The victim
told officers she couldn’t
breathe for a few moments.
She reported no pain to
officers, who advised her to
see a doctor and gave her
contact information for The
Harbor domestic violence
network.
Standring was taken to
Columbia Memorial Hospi-
tal for evaluation before be-
ing booked at Clatsop Coun-
ty Jail.
