Students provide reminders on liquor bottles Scandi fest seeks princesses
Those buying liquor in the
coming weeks could get a
gentle reminder not to buy
alcohol for minors.
Astoria High School senior
Taylor Palmrose had the idea
to place 1,000 bottle tags on
alcoholic beverages sold in
several Warrenton Business-
es. Warrenton Police Chief
Matt Workman thought it
was a great idea and helped
Palmrose and her friends
complete the project last
weekend.
“You may have seen the
bright-yellow tags on the al-
coholic beverage packages
throughout Warrenton re-
minding adults to not pur-
chase alcohol for minors,”
Workman wrote in a press
release. “The tags are a quick
reminder that furnishing al-
cohol to minors is not only il-
legal (ORS 471.410) but has a
fine of $500 ($1,000 on sec-
ond conviction and $1,500
on third and subsequent) and
contributes to an unhealthy
youth community.”
Warrenton Police Depart-
ment has purchased and
helped with bottle-tagging
events multiple times over
the last several years.
Jill Quackenbush of the
Clatsop County Juvenile De-
partment approached Work-
man with Palmrose’s senior
project idea on teenage sub-
stance abuse. The teenager
asked if she could do a bot-
tle-tagging at businesses in
Warrenton and the depart-
ment happened to have 1,000
bottle tags on hand from the
last tagging event.
Palmrose’s project also in-
volved data collection for the
Juvenile Department, which
she accomplished through a
“world café”-style listening
session with other students.
Palmrose was joined by five
fellow Astoria students.

bottle tags were Main Street
