Revitalization
meeting is Monday
An Economic Vitality Road-
map action team planning
session is set for 5:30 to 8
p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the
library at Warrenton High
School, 1700 St. Main Ave.
All businesses and residents
are urged to participate.
Speakers include Shawna
Sykes of the Oregon Employ-
ment Department and Anna
Stampher of Clatsop Works.
Participants will work on
Warrenton’s top three ini-
tiatives: nuisance property
clean-up, downtown revital-
ization and workforce devel-
opment.
The session is sponsored by
the city of Warrenton in con-
junction with Rural Develop-
ment Initiatives, a nonprofit
organization with a goal of
revitalizing Oregon’s small
towns.
States allow two
days for sturgeon
Anglers will have two days
to get out on the Columbia
River to catch and retain
white sturgeon under rules
approved last week by the Or-
egon and Washington depart-
ments of fish and wildlife.
The two-day recreational
fishery is Sept. 15 and 22.
The white sturgeon season
is about two weeks earlier
than last year, when inclem-
ent weather impacted success
rates and overall harvest.
Fishers are expected to catch
1,231 fish in the two days.
