8 T he C olumbia P ress September 14, 2018 Revitalization meeting is Monday An Economic Vitality Road- map action team planning session is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the library at Warrenton High School, 1700 St. Main Ave. All businesses and residents are urged to participate. Speakers include Shawna Sykes of the Oregon Employ- ment Department and Anna Stampher of Clatsop Works. Participants will work on Warrenton’s top three ini- tiatives: nuisance property clean-up, downtown revital- ization and workforce devel- opment. The session is sponsored by the city of Warrenton in con- junction with Rural Develop- ment Initiatives, a nonprofit organization with a goal of revitalizing Oregon’s small towns. States allow two days for sturgeon Anglers will have two days to get out on the Columbia River to catch and retain white sturgeon under rules approved last week by the Or- egon and Washington depart- ments of fish and wildlife. The two-day recreational fishery is Sept. 15 and 22. The white sturgeon season is about two weeks earlier than last year, when inclem- ent weather impacted success rates and overall harvest. Fishers are expected to catch 1,231 fish in the two days.
