Pacific Power and Nissan

$3,000 incentive to Pacific
Power’s customers and em-
ployees who purchase a new

New park, Liberty Theatre
win state cultural grants
The Oregon Cultural Trust
awarded $17,114 to Astoria’s
Scandinavian Heritage Park,
the trust reported Wednesday.
The award was part of a re-
cord $3.02 million in grants
given to 137 cultural nonprof-
it groups for fiscal year 2019,
a 3 percent increase over
2018. The increase is the di-
rect result of successful fund
raising and new donors.
“We are incredibly grate-
ful to our donors and excit-
ed by the increased access
this funding will provide to
ensure active and culturally
vibrant communities,” said
Brian Rogers, the Cultural
Trust’s executive director.
“Through the generosity of
Oregonians and the Cultural
Tax Credit, the Cultural Trust
has now awarded more than
$26 million in grants while
growing its permanent fund
to close to $29 million.”
The heritage park received a
higher amount because it was
a first-time grant for the orga-
nization. The waterfront park
will honor the immigrant
tradition that brought thou-
sands of Scandinavians to Or-
egon’s North Coast in the last
1800s and early 1900s.
The trust also awarded
$10,395 for the Liberty The-
atre’s master plan project in
downtown Astoria, which will
increase its ability to stim-
ulate future attendance by
providing a wider variety of
programming. The grant will
allow the historic Astoria the-
ater to transform itself into
the area’s community per-
forming arts center.
